History

In the fall of 1977, when I was 17 years old, my neighbor across the street, another friend and I started a swing band. We wanted to play private parties and rehearsed music across all genres. From the marketing perspective, we wanted to play music for the people who had the money. The band lasted 10 years and we made enough money to put us all through college!

When Disco became a big deal, I made tapes of all the latest hits to play on our breaks. Our audience liked it so much, sometimes our breaks were longer than we played! We also played night clubs and lounges.

Later during and after the band, I would play music for everyone at the sand bar on my boat. My performance boat, “Swellhung” , (Madman Acroos The Water) had a ridiculous stereo onboard. Girls were dancing on the bows of every boat! You could hear the music on both shores even when we were in the middle of the river or the bay!

Because my career in advertising took off, I had to leave the profession. Eventually I became very sick and eventually disabled. This is my effort to rejoin society! My love of music always continued. I had quite a collection of vinyl, CD,s and tapes of all of my friends and acquaintances music also. Today the library is 680 gigabytes! The digital library has over 8,000 artists and 10,491 albums and still growing!

The summer of 2012 The Bearded Jam appeared all summer long at a bar on the Eastern Shore of The Chesapeake Bay. I tried something completely different by chucking my ego in the trash and played each and every request. The gig was a test to see if I could be dependable because of illness, and I was. Didn’t miss a gig!
